A Grand Finale to Heathfield Silver Band’s Summer Season!
What a summer it’s been! Heathfield Silver Band have officially wrapped up this year’s season of fetes and outdoor performances, finishing on a high note with a splendid afternoon at the iconic Bexhill Coronation Bandstand.The band treated the crowd to a lively selection of bandstand favourites, alongside a couple of pieces by Gustav Holst—a rather special nod to local history, as Holst himself played the trombone on the very same bandstand as a teenager back in the 1880s. The concert was a bitter-sweet occasion, as it marked the final performance under our Musical Director, David Bowerman, who is now stepping down. Following the performance, David was presented with a quirky trombone stand and a lovely vintage trombone as a token of the band’s heartfelt gratitude for all his hard work and guidance. We wish him all the very best for the future! Looking ahead, we are delighted to announce that John Playford is stepping out of retirement to take over as our new MD. Please join us in giving John a proper, warm welcome to the podium! A massive thank you to everyone who came out to support us at fetes, parks, and bandstands throughout the summer months.
