Sarah was pleased to take up the baton at Heathfield Silver Band in September 2013, after starting her musical life with the band whilst a pupil at All Saints and St Richard's Primary School in Old Heathfield. She was spontaneously taken along to band practice by a family friend, where a seat in the Euphonium section happened to be empty. That evening changed her life forever!
After excellent tutoring and opportunities from the East Sussex Music Service and Heathfield Community College where she was a pupil, Sarah became a member of the National Youth Wind Orchestra and went on to study Euphonium at the Royal Northern College of Music with Robert Childs and Steven Mead.
She has played at the BBC Proms, performed with Championship Brass Bands, recorded professionally on Trombone and Euphonium with major artists including David Gilmour and Oysterband, performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and is a long standing full time Brass Tutor at Brighton & Hove Music & Arts, part of Brighton Dome Brighton Festival.
Sarah thoroughly enjoys working with the Heathfield Silver Band. Tuesday rehearsals are a joyous experience thanks to the players' positivity and commitment, the relaxed atmosphere, and the determination to produce the best musical results possible, whilst having the most fun possible!
